I am a freelance character & concept artist based in Ampthill, a town 50 minutes north of London. I have a penchant for drawing gritty creatures and trying to catch the essence of a character.

As a freelance character & concept artist I’ve had the privelage of working on miniatures in recent years. Regardless of where you are based in the world, I ‘m always excited to work on my next professional & creative project. Whether you are an individual, a business or somebody creating some thing interesting and looking to explore as start-up, I would be happy to offer my services.

I’ve had the honour of being able to work on character sheets, sketching ideas, designing vehicles, suits, outfits and other paraphernalia and environments.

Character Sheets

On a project contract or adhoc basis, I can help to create a character design to suit your needs. I have previously covered: historical, fantasy, science-fiction. These reference sheets can them be used by 3D artists or as reference for another medium.

Pencil Sketches & Concept Drawings

As freelance character & concept artist, I can create rough sketches to find the initial look and feel for your characters or models. These can be stripped-back line drawings in monochrome or shaded pencil renders. The stripped-back line sketches and drawings can be a good way of exploring early designs and keeping things budget concious.

Concept Illustration For Miniatures

Creating concept art and reference images for miniatures allows for so much scope and creativity. I have previously helped to create concept artwork & reference for miniatures taking into account – creating interesting models, how the model can be cast, undercuts and model weight and much more!

Character Art & Concept Work

Illustrated example of how board game artwork can be applied. Artwork can also be put together to ask as an early proof of concept for a box.

Creating characters, be it human or monster, is a something that I enjoy doing, and have done on commercial level in the board game industry. Freelance Character & Concept Artist | Technical Art Skills

As a freelance character & concept artist, I also have years of ‘technical’ experience.  In addition to my traditional drawing skills, I have a working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop. Photoshop is a tool I like to use often. So when creating the illustrations I can check for sizes and also make the artwork ready for print if necessary.

Artwork can be created either as line drawing or pencil sketch, 2 tone, monochrome or as  full-color digital painting on an isolated white background. Time and cost differs between the varying ways something is illustrated.

Administrative Information for hiring my illustration services

NDA – After agreeing to a commission and doing the paperwork, I would be more than happy to sign an NDA to keep your project top secret. Although it should be noted that I may charge to sign and scan an NDA ‘outside’ of a project. If you have any additional questions with regards to my skills and services feel free to send me a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Copyright –  needs to be discussed on a case-by-case basis. But I’m more often than not happy to sell the copyright along with the artwork. ( alternatively, you can look at my license details )
