This page is dedicated to my freelance fantasy artwork. Folklore and fantasy art is a great source of inspiration for me. Folklore and fantasy art are often overlooked pieces of culture.

So many myths and legends stem from folklore. And fantasy art is often a derivative of folklore or a combination of both folklore and legend and forgone belief.

If you are not yet on board… fantasy and folklore artwork is frequently ingrained in tradition and culture.

Much of my folklore and fantasy artwork is based on British Folklore.

Many countries have old folklore stories be it Norway, Germany, or Scotland!

As an artist that enjoys illustrating fantasy and folklore, I wanted to share some pieces of work with you. It should also be noted that if you are looking to buy some artwork or looking to commission me for a project please get in touch.

Fantasy & Folklore Illustration

The Sleeping Faun

This is an illustration of a woodland faun sleeping alongside the rest of it’s baby kinfolk. The artwork is mixed media. Pencil line drawing and digital painted in Photoshop.

This piece of artwork was created as part of an exhibition held in Looe. More can be read on this piece of Cornish folklore here.

The Manticore

This rendition of a Manticore was inspired by a bestiary from 900 years ago. The monks of yore wrote of a creature from Middle East. Paraphrasing, the creature was a red bodied lion and with a human face and a scorpion tail.

Based on this loose phrase and description I wanted to create my own version. This piece of fantasy artwork was created using mixed media.

The Dawn Chorus

A creature – a ghoul – rises up from the depths of the long forgotten swamp to the chant of its undead brethren. On this fetid morning, the unnamed creature will go forth and shepard the lost dead back their watery grave where they belong and must fester.

Mixed media, markers / digital painted. This artwork is also available on license if interested.

NDA – After agreeing to a commission and doing the paperwork, I would be more than happy to sign an NDA to keep your project top secret. Although it should be noted that I may charge to sign and scan an NDA ‘outside’ of a project. If you have any additional questions with regards to my skills and services feel free to send me a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Copyright –  needs to be discussed on a case-by-case basis. But I’m more often than not happy to sell the copyright along with the artwork. ( alternatively, you can look at my license details )
